Coaching vs Therapy

Both have value. In fact, coaching helps you figure out your values and take action to meet your goals. Values are important in therapy, too. However when you have been stuck for a long time or the same conflicts continue to reoccur in your life therapy brings hidden patterns to the surface.
One issue at a time works well in coaching, such as switching jobs. Therapy usually addresses several complex issues at the same time. You want to switch jobs but your spouse or partner is not happy that you will be working longer hours. You feel torn between your needs and the needs of the couple.
Whether you try coaching or therapy, at your initial consultation, bring up everything that is a challenge. The coach or therapist should be able to put some overall understanding and order to it. If not move on and follow your instinct to another helper.
